New Vauxhall Corsa

Postby evan on Tue May 15, 2007 2:36 pm

I am due to replace my present Corsa CDTI beginning of September. I wondered whether anyone is using one of the new breed of corsa's and if so how do they compare with their predecessors.
I have also contemplated a Yaris as a replacement as I have heard good reports about them.

Any information with regards to how both fair as teaching cars would be appreciated. Ev

Two ADIs round here got the new Corsa and had to take them back to get a letter from Vauxhall before the DSA would let them be used on test. :? But they both said they were fabby cars and wouldn't swap them.

They had a design fault or something. They recalled them all. I'm sure if you buy one now they will be okay. When they were discussing it I was talking to someone else trying to keep half an ear on them.

Something to do with the brakes on certain models, remember reading about it somewhere.

i dont know why every time i go in the test centre there always seems to be a notice recalling corsa's. i did once have an astra dual fuel that put me off vauxhaul for life, it was never out the garage.

The term "in-built obsolescence" was originally used to describe General Motors vehicles (therefore Vauxhall as well) and it has proved completely true ever since. The new corsa has already had 4 recalls, with a whole horde of other problems described by ADIs who own them.

Yaris is good though, so is micra (though ugly). Mitsubishi Colt seems like fun too. Nissan Note?

Is there a pattern developing here?

I looked at a new Corsa when a friend got one, it looks really nice but again the number of recalls would put me off.

Personally, I'm happy with my Kia Picanto. £6000 with duals fitted, 50+ to the gallon, 5 doors, MP3 stereo, twin air bags and a back end that managed to destroy a Rover 400. When I've run it for 3 or 4 years it will be worth nothing, but then again what will a Corsa be worth with 100k on the clock.

I've only had 2 problems with it. The gearbox was playing up when I first got it, it kept slipping out of 4th and rather than mess around the dealer took it in for the afternoon and stuck a whole new box in. The other issue was a burned out fuel sensor, despite me being honest and saying that I felt it may be pupil abuse, they sorted it under warranty in a day.

I can't say enough good things about the car and the dealers and I'm sure they will be at the top of my list when it comes time to replace my current one.

Not a huge fan of the Picanto, but the value for money is there. As is the reliability from what I've heard from a couple of guys who've got them.

And yes, the Micra IS ugly. As is the new Fiat thingie. As is the new 5 series.

Still I actually like the look of the 1 series, so I must be wierd.
