PDI training can be tough. Feel free to ask ADI's / ADI Trainers a question - we have been there and done that!

Another sucker?

Postby tyman on Sat Sep 12, 2009 12:40 pm

Hi All
Just reg. in a panic  signed on for a course as they say there is a need for instructors in the Cheshire area . So i signed the forms thinking 20-30 hrs will do me but after doing some homework #-o (after as you do) i find that's not true and i might not be able to cover the franchise fee (£185 pw) or recover the course fees!! Can anyone tell me if this is correct for this area? thanks

How far down the line are you? If you are just about to go on a trainee licence (or when the time evenually comes) then maybe it's worth staying at your current job (if you have one) until you are fully qualified, then if the school you are with cannot supply you with adequate work give them the required notice and either go solo or join another school (after doing homework beforehand this time  ).

Also when did you sign for the course? Every contract has a cooling off period, 2 weeks I think is the norm, so maybe you can say you've changed your mind?

Let us know how you get on. Good luck.

Hi Ray thanks for the reply iv calmed down abit now and having read the finance contract for the loan (Barclay's) there is no cooling off period! In small print it says
"non cancellable agreement-you have no right to cancel the agreement under the consumer credit act 1974, the timeshare act 1992 or the financial services regulations 2004"
Didn't think they could still tie you in like that ? My own fault for not taking my specs but more importantly my wife! [-X so just need to knuckle down i suppose and see how it goes #-o

:( I thought it was law that all contracts and agreements had to have a cooling off period, I may be wrong though?

If you only just signed it and really want to get out it may be worth getting some legal advice, maybe the CAB or consumer direct could point you in the right direction?

*EDIT* Found a bit of info, don't know if it will help but you'll have to act fast.
